What we offer

cosy.green optimises heating systems in real-time. We are the first company to consolidate all heating related data of residential buildings on one platform.

Target group

Professional owners of residential real estate:
- Housing companies (e.g. Vonovia)
- Housing cooperatives (e.g. EBV Harburg)
- Affluent individuals with a portfolio of completely owned buildings

Challenges

- RE segment has a lot of inertia when adopting new technologies -> marketing challenge
- fragmented market: largest player (Vonovia) represents just 2% of the market -> sales challenge
- relatively low revenues per building -> operations challenge

Our Story

When Alex moved in to his own house with a nice new heat pump in 2007, he ran into a number of problems with the heating system in the first heating season. The system wasn't set up properly by the heating installer and Alex did what presumably most residents do: he set the room thermostats to what he assumed to be the right position for a comfy room climate without caring about the settings at the central plant. This resulted in erratic behaviour of the control logic of the heat pump. As he knows now, this also caused wasting a lot of energy. He was shocked to learn that there was no communication between room thermostats and central heat source. In the 21st century, where all required components already exist!
Fast forward 10 years Alex started to reflect on his impact on the world and on the climate. Admittedly, the Fridays for Future movement was a catalyst for this thought process. He realised that the built enviromment is responsible for nearly 40% of all GHG emissions. Every year we blow 42 billion tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere, just for heating the spaces we live in. So, he decided his next engagement must contribute the the decarbonisation of the real estate sector. He joined a venture builder that focusses on ClimateTech startups where he found a team and developed the idea for cosy.green. The purpose of the solution is to reduce heating related costs and GHG emissions by turning an engineering focussed user interface into an intuitive and user frielndly one that everyone understands instantly. cosy.green will make residential spaces go green and stay cosy.
